Social Services Guiding Principles
COMMUNITY BASED
The Min-O-Qwe-Ke-Ga-Bwe’in Social Services Initiative will support community-based approach to well being and financial independence of clients and their families.
FIRST NATION AUTHORITY
The Min-O-Qwe-Ke-Ga-Bwe’in program will have the authority and responsibility for Social Services Reform including the design, development, implementation, administration, and evaluation of Social Support Services.
RESPECT OF DIVERSITY
Min-O-Qwe-Ke-Ga-Bwe’in Social Services Initiative program model and delivery system will respect the differences amongst the participating First Nation communities, including, but not limited to, traditional, geographic, social, economic, and demographic diversities.
SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES
In all cases of long term social dependence the Min-O-Qwe-Ke-Ga-Bwe’in methodology will focus on the development of programs and services to assist individuals in creating a path to independent healthier lifestyles.
TRADITIONAL VALUES
Elders, in their contributions of our language and customs for the continuation and preservation of our cultural and heritage, will be recognized and respected as a valued contribution to the communities. (I.e., Anishinaabe traditional teachings)
FLEXIBILITY
The Min-O-Qwe-Ke-Ga-Bwe’in program delivery will be flexible to allow service providers to address individual need and circumstances. (I.e. Emergencies, evacuation)
